Jordan Irvine – Maandala
My name is Jordan Irvine, I am 30 years old from Calgary Alberta. I have been making electronic music since 2016 and DJing since 2015. Though I have been a musician for as long as I can remember, with my start in public school, playing all the instruments I could each year. In junior high school, I was introduced to the trumpet and the guitar, and it was in these years my love and passion for music and performing was solidified. This love leads me through my academic years and lead me to university to study jazz on guitar while singing and playing guitar in a variety of different alt rock style bands. During my early 20s I, like many others, found myself dancing in the clubs, and realized what a beautiful release dancing is from life’s struggles. Music and dance go hand in hand, and I’ve always loved dancing. This was my first tiny bite of electronic music. The summer of 2014 was the turning point in my life as well as my career as a musician; I had graduated with my diploma, I didn’t have a band at the time and wasn’t sure where to go from there. All that doubt was washed away when I attended Shambhala for the first time. It was in that magical place I decided this was for me, I wanted to make electronic music and make the world dance. Fast forward to now, I am well on my way to thriving as a full-time musician. I have performed with names like Perkulator, Cheshire, Longwalkshortdock, toured with Moontricks, and most recently won a remix contest hosted by Stickybuds. I plan to continue to use music to move people in all ways and help them express themselves and feel good about life, as music does that for me.
